Dear Mr Lee,

You are like a father or a grandfather to all the fellow Singaporeans. To most of us, you are our hero; the most extraordinary, respectable man. To be honest, I don't read much about you. I hardly listen to any of your speeches, neither do I read any of your books nor your news. To me, I only know you as Singapore's founding father and you have contribute your whole life to build up this little red dot to what it is today. 

5 Feb 2015 - You were hospitalized. Despite your sickness, you fought strong. 

23 March 2015 - Monday, 3:18am. 
You left behind all of your children and grandchildren. You left behind the whole nation; all the citizens.

It was during this period that I know better of you, that I read more about you and every little details about you.

7 days of mourning. I believe it has been a very heavy and emotional week for everyone around the world. It was indeed for me. I didn't expect that your death will be such a huge blow to me.

29 March 2015 - Sunday, 12:30pm - 6:10pm. The most dreaded day for all of us. It was the day this farewell was for ever.

Forgive my "selfishness" and being superstitious (due to my upcoming wedding), I did not pay you my last respect for the past 4 days. I did not send you off during your last journey with us today. I merely kept you in my prayers and keep my memory of you deep down inside my heart. No matter how much I wish I had did something, I did nothing in the end. 

For this, I got myself a lifetime of regret.

Mr Lee, I hope you have already reunited with Mrs Lee and live happily thereafter with her for the rest of your life. Rest assured that We the citizens of as Singapore, will pledge ourselves as one united nation. We will continue your legacy, values, determination, perseverance and spirit to build up Singapore.

My utmost respect to you, Sir. You made me proud to call myself a Singaporean. Thank you for laying the ground for us and everything that you have done for the nation. 

Farewell Sir; May you rest in peace.

Comparison of Bridal Studios

As mentioned in my previous post, I have shortlisted 5; no in fact it was 6 bridal studios (i.e. La Belle Couture, My Bridal Room, Rico A Mono, Digio Bridal, Sophia Wedding and Bridal Affairs) for Sam & my wedding.

 

With the list of available bridal studios (ranges from SG, Malaysia, Taiwan and Korea based) to choose from, I don’t think it is possible to visit each and every studios to check out on their packages.  I kid you not; visiting bridal studios can be exciting but tiring at the same time. 

You will easily spend at least 2hrs in the studio, trying their gowns; checking out their photography skills (if you are planning to take up their full package inclusive of pre-wedding shoot) and discussing on the available packages the studios offer that suit your needs etcc. Hence, it is only through recommendations and by reading reviews from wedding forums that you picked up the top 5 which catches your attention.

In this entry, I will state the package details (inclusive of pre-wedding shoot) offer to me during my visit to their studios (i.e rates are quoted during first half of 2014). 

 

Reviews: Honestly, all the coordinators I met up with are really pleasant and friendly. None of them are pushy in hard-selling their packages, which is one of the deciding factors that I look out for in choosing the desired bridal studios.
In addition, I got to try at least 3 gowns (except for Sophia Wedding) before we sat down & discuss on the different types of packages that is available.

Wedding Journey Part I – Only the Beginning of #SCYESWEDO

Disclaimer: Before I start on my first wedding related post, I need to reiterate that all the entries on my wedding journey are based on personal views & opinions. Hence, apply those that you think is applicable to your wedding or reference those that you think is useful yay :) Nevertheless, thank you for reading my entries <3

In fact, I’ve actually blogged on the woes of my wedding preparation here. Reading back the entry I blogged 6 months ago (Omgggggg..I have not been updating this space here for almost 3 months. *Blows the thick layer of dust awayyyy*), I realised Sam & I have already ticked off some of the major items on the checklist.

So far I guess we are still on the track (I hope so??)

Wedding Band

A picture of our wedding band (& engagement ring) since I’ve already posted on Instagram & facebook :D

I love my wedding band ALOTTTT even though it is not from Cartier, Bvlgari or Love & Co. We did check out Love & Co., Soo Kee and Goldheart beforehand but nothing catches our eye. We are not looking for high end brands due to the cost. Since we will be wearing the band daily, wear & tear is inevitable. Moreover I’m a very rough & careless person; so not point getting costly rings. The proposal ring is enough :)

Love how the band looks sleek on my ring finger & that row of diamond pieces on the band… *bling bling*. In fact, this was not the original ring design I paid for; I changed my mind after a coffee session & thankfully I made the change.

This is another pair which I was considering as well. The difference between both bands is the "band" surrounding the diamonds. Somehow, I love the band design. However, this is slightly different from the one I chose as seen above. The one I chose has this criss-cross design.

Sam’s ring is still the same; only I changed the design.  Fickle minded is my character >< The original wedding band I chose looks a little like Tiff & Co inspired, & it looks really perfect when worn together with the proposal ring. But when worn alone, I find that it lack the “band” feel. Moreover, I don’t think I will be wearing my proposal ring often (only on special occasions), so I personally would prefer to have a wedding band that actually looks/feels like a band when worn. I hope I din confuse you by what I mean :p

Our wedding band does not come in a pair; we chose whichever designs that caught our eye & suits our ring finger to form a pair. 

Wedding pillow bears, which we only manage to collect after the 4^th trip to the jeweller (so pissed with them), will only be shown on our ROM day :p Stay tuned..heheh!

Wedding Date

YAYYYY, FINALLY WE HAVE A WEDDING DATE!!!!!! :DDDD

16 May 2015 (Saturday); Wedding Lunch

Unhappiness stuffs on finalising the wedding date aside; I come to realise it is very important to have your wedding date advised & given by a licensed geomancer. Just be safe than sorry. It is a once in a lifetime event for both of you. You never know if the date you have chosen is really auspicious nor will it have any major impact on anyone. Yes, you will probably choose a date that doesn’t clash with certain zodiacs, but still you never know on the “hidden impact” to anyone (if you know what I mean).

To believe or not is the couple’s choice.

My say is if you have decided to ignore/forgo all the traditional beliefs, go ALL THE WAY with it. Stay positive & don’t get affected by any negative comments.

If you are like me, more to the “bang tan” side, I would really suggest heeding the geomancer’s advice. Don’t think any further. Honestly, I don’t want to see myself or anyone being sacrificed due to my wedding date.

Looking back, I am thankful that my aunt reprimanded me for not wanting to wait for the auspicious date from the geomancer & wanting to choose the earliest auspicious date from the list of 2015 auspicious dates provided by wedding forums. Like so desperate to get marry lidat -.-

Remember; this is your once in a lifetime event & you want to make it your BEST!! :)

Wedding Venue

Guess where? Heheheheh :p

√ Centralised location & near to MRT

√ Only ballroom in the hotel. No pillars; Have high ceilings.

We confirm our hotel during a wedding show held in April.

Prior to our confirmed hotel venue, we only viewed the ballroom at Park Royal @ Pickering. In fact, I slotted several other hotel viewings over the weekends; never did I expect Sam would confirm our venue so fast. We hardly make hasty decision, especially those involve $$$$. I guess he was just too worn-out after all (actually only 2-3 -.-“) the bridal studios visits. Tskkkkkkk…

Our coordinator has been very pleasant, accommodating & prompt in her replies to our enquiries. Cross fingers she will be with the hotel all the way till our wedding day.

Advice:-

1) Call up the hotels & check with the events department on the upcoming wedding lunch/dinner banquet held by other couples. You can head down to the ballroom 1.5hr prior to the banquet to check out the set-up of the ballroom & reception area.

2) View the bridal suites before signing the wedding contract. Ensure that the room is spacious enough to cater to at least 8 people (i.e. parents from both side, the wedding couple, MUA etccc..). You don’t get to book bridal suites for staycation always; so make sure the suite is to both of your satisfaction. Try asking for second night stay free as well.

3) “Bargain” for all the throw-ins available.  (i.e. 1 bottle of wine per confirmed table etc…)

Bridal Studio

Went to 6 bridal studios to check out on their packages; of which 3 are accompanied by Sam & the remaining 3 are with Jessica. Thank you to “OH My Pretty Gf, Jessica!” once again <3 Rest assured that I will definitely be there for your gown hunting when you need me :)

I wouldn't deny that it is rather tiring in search of that perfect gown, perfect pre-wedding photographer & perfect package with the studio. Yes; Sam & I chose to sign up the full package with the bridal studio to minimise cost & time. Ironically, I pretty enjoy popping by bridal studios to try on their beautiful gownssssss & snapping pictures secretly… heee!

I might go into the individually packages that the studios offered in a separate entry; if time permits though >< Very packed with meeting Interior Designers for our upcoming house. Meanwhile, bride/groom-to-be..enjoy the process in search of your perfect gowns/suits!! Do try the different cuttings, designs, colours etc …you never know that actually the one which you least preferred might turn out to suit you the BEST. Also if you favour a particular gown cutting (e.g. ball gown), do ensure that the bridal studio does carry a wide variety ball gown for you to choose from.

As for the packages, don’t be shy to ask for more throw ins (i.e. photos, pages, gowns/suits etc). BE THICK-SKIN!!!! :P

AD Photographer, Videographer & Instant Booth Vendor

Well, I admit that I literally MASS EMAIL the entire photographer/videographer/instant booth companies which I came across in FB ><  Anyway it’s FREE; Email them to ask for quotations only. HAHAHAHA.

Our PG & VG are from different companies; PG does have a company but only provide photography whereas VG is doing freelance shooting. However, both of them have been working with each other for quite some time. Hence, I decided to engage both of them. Firstly, it will be slightly cheaper and secondly, they will have a better rapport when doing the photo/video-shooting.

Some hoo-has did happened prior to our confirmation on our AD PG & VG. Just crossing fingers that all 3 of them won’t disappoint Sam & I on our BIG day. I am also hoping that I have time to keep utilizing the instant booth.

Korea Travelogue (Day 6 - 8)

Drafting my #SCTRAVELOGUE Day 6 – 8 on 28/05/14; let’s see when will this entry be posted up on my blog. Heeeeee..

Missing the man now that he is in back in the green uniform for 2 weeks :( Dislike the feeling whereby I am unable to get his reply instantly when I whatsapp him. Worse still, he is required to go outfield (tekong) for 3 days, which means I’m unable to contact him *cries* I’m a sticky gf…

Okay, cut the long story short. Let me bring you back to the main agenda of this entry…..

Day 6

Don’t you agree that the serene morning sight deserves an OOTD backdrop shot?? The cool breeze that smacks right into the face & the frozen fingers while taking the shot – things that people I do (& forcing Sam as well) for an ootd.. HAHHA.

1^st stop: Nami Island (via Boat Ride) – The famous filming site for Korea Drama “Winter Sonata”. Be mesmerized by the scene view of wide grassland, rows if chestnut trees, authentic cottages and beautiful lake. Stroll along “Lower’s Path” where the lead actors strolled. Boat ride is subject to prevailing weather condition.

The boat that was packed with tourists. Look like there is going to have a WAR & they are coming onshore to attack us.

Forgot where we had our lunch. But it somehow resembles the newly opened Yoognae restaurant in SG?? Lunch was a little oily for my liking & the frying smell of the whole restaurant was TERRIBLE!!! Luckily we got Ah Bao & Ben to cook for us.

2^nd stop: Lotte World (Day Pass) – A full-fledged theme park era in Korea and is regarded as a world-class theme park along with Disneyland of the U.S and Japan. A complex life town with a department store, hotel, duty-free shops, large discount store and a fitness centre in addition to the theme park. It is a city within a city.

Sam only managed to try one ride (Gyro Drop) due to the never ending crazy queues for each single ride & the limited time given. Took a video of how fast & great impact of the drop :S When it comes to amusement park, Sam never fails to go for those VERY ADVENTUROUS rides; while I can only go for those kiddy rides, like a carousel merry-go-round (not even roller coaster for the kids) =/ Yet, Sam is always loving enough to accompany me take this kid-dish rides & look like a BIG KID. He will only go for those adventurous ones when I insisted and that he should not waste money walking around the park with me. <3

Cordyceps Ginseng Chicken Soup for dinner. I was looking forward to this meal cos I love ginseng soup. Sadly, the meal failed me big time. The soup was very very bland, even after we add the light soya sauce & salt. Ginseng taste was not strong as well =( Ah Bao must have brought us to a random infamous Ginseng Chicken Soup restaurant. Firstly, there wasn’t much people at the shop when we were there having our meals & secondly, people around me who have tried other Ginseng Chicken Soup restaurants love what they tried!!!

3^rd stop: “Jump Martial Arts Performance Show” – Combining physical comedy and Tae Kwan Do, Jump is a high octane martial arts extravaganza hailing from Korea that features gravity-defying stunts such as slick acrobatics, sword fighting and wall-walking! The choreography and a graceful flight of the imagination combined with martial arts and acrobatics leave us with a new experience born form an impressive performance in the air.

No camera allowed in the theatre. Some people find the show entertaining but I find it so-so. Abit lame at certain parts. My EQ damn low one.

Checked into Koreana Hotel for a night. If I never remember wrongly, this hotel doesn’t come with complimentary wi-fi. Super sianz so we decided to sleep it off.

Day 7

Preparing to check out but not forgetting an OOTD shot :)

Ah Bao dressed up very formerly cos there was some "evaluation" of his service on that day. Spot the head on the top right of this pic; that is the "invigilator" that will grade Ah Bao on his overall tour guide performance. 

Had some very meh buffet breakfast which I only bother to take 2-3 pics.

Couldn’t recall where did Ah Bao brought us to after breakfast, but since no pictures taken, it should be some Ginseng, Hoganbo, Local Products Shop (i.e. Seaweed Factory) or Amethyst Specialty Shops whereby no photos are allowed.

Sam & I did not buy any Ginseng & Hoganbo products, needless to say Amethyst. But we did buy several packs of SEAWEED back to SG!!! Yum :p

Bibimbap + BBQ for lunch & it was pretty good.

After lunch, we embarked our journey to the SHOPPING HEAVEN – Myeongdong, Namdaemum Market & Dongdaemum. Imagine we have only less than half a day to explore these 3 areas. SUPER UPSET cos obviously there wasn’t enough time for shopping at all :(((((((  I was on the verge of “escaping” from my tour group & do a free & easy around Myeongdong on my own with Sam. One of the cons of joining tour!! >:(

After our shopping at Namdaemum Market & Dongdaemum (nothing caught our eye; we blamed it on the inadequate time), Ah Bao brought us to this Chinese restaurant for their 炸酱面 & some Chinese dishes for dinner (no pictures cos all I wanted was to quickly finish dinner & go shopping!!). This was an optional meal which Sam & I were so regretful of joining in. We felt “cheated” by Ah Bao once again!!! We should have leaved our tummy for the yummy street food in Myeongdong!!! >< There are soooooooooooooooo many street food to try but we were just too full :(

Got all my skincare products from Duty Free @ Lotte Department Store & Myeongdong. After grabbing the laneige items, I got Sam to queue for me to make payment (thanks dear :*) while I shopped for other skin care brands. Btw the crowd at Lottee Duty Free is CRAZZZZZY!! As if the items are on 80% sale….super packed with Cheena tourists -.- 

One thing to highlight: Not sure how true, Ah Bao mentioned that for skin care; get it from Duty Free cos they are more “authentic” & “safer”. It might be slightly more expensive than those bundle set you get elsewhere (like Dongdaemum), but the skincare is definitely not expired or nearing to expiry. Note that the expiry date should be printed on the product itself; not outside the box of the product.

Continue my shopping at Myeongdong after grabbing most of my skincare from Lotte Duty Free. As expected, we could only go in selected shops BECAUSE OF THE LIMITED TIME!!!!! Argggghhhhh~ >:( Got myself a pack of eyebrow pencil from Face Shop & a shawl along the street.

Ended our night with a night stay at Grande Sheraton Walker Hill; a 6* hotel but situated FARRRRRR away from Myeongdong!!!! Pffft….. Ah Bao should have just arranged us in IBIS Hotel @ Myeongdong or what lorrrrr! @#$%^&*@#$%^* 

Still unable to get over my limited shopping time throughout this trip. Perhaps I should consider heading to Seoul for a short honeymoon trip while saving up for Europe trip. *Hint Hint @samsam_xq*

Day 8

Our last day in Korea :’(((((((((((

After breakfast at some cheena 梨花会馆, we headed to Korea’s University Street also known as Shinchon Shopping Street, the trendiest place for the latest youth fashion. There are many interesting fashion boutiques, beauty salons (I would be more than eager to do a hair makeover if only I’ve the time) and eating outlets in this area. Explore the popular Korean version of Evisu Store which offers all kinds of jeans, shirts and many more. 

Ben gave his thank you speech to all of us; for appreciating & purchasing his photography work during the 7 days. Not cheap lorrrs.. Sam & my combined photos for the 7 days costs us S$231 in total!!!! O.O 

No choice since everyone in the tour group bought, we cannot don't give face also. Moreover this is part of his earnings for his Uni-sch fees as a part-time photographer & he had been serving us really well throughout our tour. 

One of my tour mates bought the egg bread for us to try. IT WAS DA-BOOMZZZZZZ okay!! Everyone must try the egg bread. It looks something like the above. (pic credits Cheryl Wee)

We also have some last-minute shopping at the Korean Local Produce Convenience Store, offering locally manufactured goodies such as ginseng sweets, kimchi, seaweeds, honey citron tea, instant ramen, souvenirs, Banana Milk, etc etc..

PS: Adding on very abruptly, below are the 2 places I will briefly talk about, as I’ve forgotten which day I visited them.

D.I.Y Beauty Course with ODBO

One of my favourite programs on the itinerary.  Pamper yourself with DIY facial session (for both men & ladies) and get to know about the beauty tips from the professionals. Learn more about the latest make up techniques to create a style of your own and beauty products that suits you. If I’m not wrong, ODBO products can only be purchased at their showroom, not those retail outlets.

My first ODBO product was their Silky Essence. Not much effect shown after applying though. This time round, I bought their Silky Essence, Toner & Sleeping Pack. My colleague wanted 2 bottles of Silky Essence. 5 products in total & I got a complimentary eye essence. Love the smell of ODBO products. Fyi, ODBO products cost slightly higher than Laneige products. Got myself a bottle of Face Shop eye remover from the showroom too.

Jeju (Cheju) Underground Shopping Street

Cheju Underground Shopping Street is the perfect place for shopping in Jeju as there are more than 377 outlets one after the other. The underground shopping street takes you away from the city traffic and you can walk peacefully to have a look around the place. But be sure that the place will be crowded and you will have to face a lot of human traffic; however that’s half the fun of it as you’ll get to see so many people engrossed in buying famous Jeju merchandise that’s not available anywhere else in Korea. 

This is the best place to hunt for clothes, footwear, accessories and local crafts. As this street is covered, you get to save yourself from the sun during the daytime and of course you can shop here when it’s raining outside. There’s so much on offer that you will need an entire day to browse through it.

为什么快乐的时光总是短暂的?? (“How the time flies when one is having fun!”) We bid farewell to this beautiful county before transferring to the airport for the flight back to SG.

4 months ever since I’m back from Seoul, but did I mention that I’ve left my heart there?? I have been telling Sam that we need to go back Seoul for holiday soon, at least a 8 – 9 days trip man!!
